Buying a salvaged 900 Saab SE Hatchback?
Nick asked:
I'm in the market for a cheap used car. My car runs well, but it's got a lot of millage on it. I found a 900 SE Saab Hatchback at a dealership not to far from me, who will accept my old car for a trade in. They're charging $1,500 for this Saab with only 55,000 miles, and it looks fine except the front bumper is a little rough. I looked it up with CarFax and it was in an accident back in 98, salvaged, then a new owner had it, and drove it for another 20,000 miles over the next three years.
Now it's up for sale,

Does this sound like a good deal to anyone? Or am I going to drive this thing off the lot and right into a junk yard?
It was in an accident in New York,
Salvage Title was issued in San Antonio Texas,
Then in New Rochelle, NY a new owner was reported along with a Salvage Title and Rebuilt title issued.

I would try to figure out why the car was salvaged. I know in MD it is pretty difficult to title a salvaged vehicle.

every1 has a saab story, but it looks(sounds)like the tears are ending. seems funny how a salvage title kills a cars value.i had a salvage 5.0 that ran and looked just as good. i put 100,000 of the 300,000 on it and i abused it and also built it to not break.what was it worth again $400 i dont think so, amd everytime especially with salvage, they go low kelly blue book, id like to punch kelly in the mouth. i wouldnt let yopu bet on my old machine in a race for $400.oh id probably have won if you bet for me you knew.1 loss no money and it was from 65 to 70 roll but topspeed id get hung. topped around 135 originally, then topped oput at around 155-60 now sitting in a wrecking yard without being wrecked.california *****.

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net
